2018 Netherlands 1 oz. Silver 1 Daalder Lion Dollar GEM Proof OGP

The 2018 Netherlands Silver 1 Lion Dollar GEM Proof condition in the Original Government Packaging. First struck by the Royal Dutch Mint in 1567, the second year of issue continues the 400th Anniversary celebration of the original leeuwendaalder or "Lion Dollar" begun last year. Coins are struck to proof quality on a .9999 fine silver planchet guaranteed to contain 1 oz. of silver. The 2017 series was a hit due to its beauty and low mintage.

The obverse features the image of a Dutch knight standing in front of a shield bearing a fierce lion, encircled by two beadwork rims and inscriptions.

The reverse image has a roaring lion depicted much larger than the obverse, surrounded by two beadwork circles and the inscriptions.

The design was digitally enhanced from the original 1617 coins.

Original Lion Dollars are severely worn from extensive use and circulation. These new versions are what it was like in the 16th and 17th centuries, resulting in a perfect piece of craftsmanship from the Royal Dutch Mint. Own a piece of significant historical reference from when modern Europe started to emerge.
